DTN COMMENTS:  Still just a few bids on the table in parts of Nebraska 
and Texas, but they remain well below current asking prices of around 
$184 to $185 in the South, and $295-plus in the North. Significant trade 
volume will likely be delayed until sometime Friday. 

Today's slaughter totaled 118,000 head, 6,000 less than a week ago, and 
4,000 below a year ago. Cattle futures closed modestly to sharply higher 
on live contracts, up 5 to 105. Feeder issues ended the day sharply 
higher up 117 to 227. Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with light 
to moderate box movement.
